As a Producer, award-winning Director/Choreographer and Casting Director, Derick LaSalla the founder and director of SHOWBEAT wears many hats in the Entertainment Industry.
Trained in LA and NY; A Herbert Bergof Studio graduate and professional entertainer for Stage,TV, Film and Special Events, Derick has been actively involved in all aspects of Theater, Television production and Casting for over twenty-five years.
He started Showbeat Productions, Inc., over ten years ago after many repeat Industry clients requested extended production services. SHOWBEAT evolved into a full entertainment production house with consulting and creative services available in development, producing, casting, choreography, lighting, music, costuming and scenic design.
As a previous Entertainment Show Director and Choreography Consultant for
the Walt Disney Company and working in the show development division,
Derick created, cast, directed and staged high profile stage shows and special events. Some projects included: Disney’s new TomorrowLand - Grand Press Opening, the patriotic “Welcome Home Celebration” for the U.S. Military,
the traditional Indio Date Festival’s “Arabian Night’s” stage show and the very popular “Hercules Victory Parade” based on the animated film. He also created new staging and choreography for Disneyland’s brand new "Millennium Christmas Fantasy Parade.”
As a Casting Director for Televsion, Film and Live Stage Entertainment,
Derick has cast multiple TV commercials and studio film trailers for: Dreamworks, New Line Cinema, Universal, Disney/ABC, Hallmark, NASA,
FOX, Yahoo, Warner Bros.Studios and New Wave Entertainment; along with many others. He was also the Principal Casting Director on the cult horror feature film HACK! 2007.
Partial Theater credits include: Director of "And The World Goes Round" starring, ABC Soap Star's. Director of "Born To Be Alive" starring, Selene Luna. Director/Choreographer of "Stay Forever-The Life and Songs of Dusty Springfield." Director/Choreographer of the original European hit musical “Pygmalion - The True Story” which received outstanding reviews and International press. Musical Staging Director and Casting Consultant of the original Sci-Fi musical “Generator Girl.” Director of Eve Ensler's staged reading of "A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and a Prayer." Show Direction and Musical Staging for "Gershwin Sings Gershwin" starring Alexis Gershwin. Casting Consultant and Choreographer of the original Los Angeles premiere production of: “Batboy –The Musical” produced by the Actor’s Gang in Hollywood. Batboy received the LA Ovation Award for Best Musical of the year and later moved on to London's West End and Off Broadway.
Current projects include: Co-Executive Producer on a brand new reality series called, " Hollywood Stunt Girls " partnering with Eddie October Productions; and as a Producer on the new scripted network series called, " Poisoned " based on the life of activist Alan Bell.
Derick LaSalla is a current member of, SSDC, SAG, EQUITY, AFTRA and AGVA. He has received the Los Angeles Theater Crictic's award, the Drama-Logue award for best choreography of a new musical and the Desert Theater League award for outstanding lighting design. As a Stage and Talent Casting Director, Derick is credited with over three hundred live production stage shows, Couture fashion runway shows, TV, Charity and Special Events worldwide.
